2024 European elections/Romania, 9th in EU for polling presence

Romania ranks 9th in EU for polling presence in European elections, in a top dominated by Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta and ending with Croatia, Lithuania dn Bulgaria.   According to data based on provisional results released by the European Parliament on the website results.elections.europa.eu, the first positions are held by Belgium (89.82%), Luxembourg (82.29%) and Malta (73%).   Germany (64.78%) ranked fourth for voting presence, followed by Hungary (59.26%), Cyprus (58.86%), Denmark (58.23%), and Austria (54.10%). Romania ranked 9th, as 52.42% of Romanian citizens voted.   The top with the lowest presence includes Bulgaria (31.80%), Lithuania (28.35%) and Croatia (21.34%). In Romania there was a rising tendency for voting at the last European polls, although the increase is small compared to the 2019 elections, when 51.2% of Romanians voted.   The highest increases in polling presence were reported in Hungary, from 43.36% to 59.26% (about 16%), Cyprus, from 44.99% to 58.86% (over 13%), Slovenia – from 28.89% to 41.36% (over 12%) and Slovakia, from 22.74% to 34.38% (over 11%).   The most important drops of polling presence were recorded in Lithuania, from 53.48% to 29.35% (over 25%), Greece from 58.69% to 41.39% (over 17%), Spain from 60.73% to 49.21% (over 11%) and Croatia from 29.85% to 21.34% (over 8%).   At EU level, the polling presence grew from 50.66% to 50.93%, being higher compared to 5 years ago in 15 countries, Romania included.   S&D and EPP win 11 mandates each in Romania, Renew -2 and Greens -1   S&D and EPP win 11 mandates each in Romania for the future EU Parliament, Renew has two seats and the Greens one, these are the latest EP election results.   Acording to the lastest EP results obtained at 5.30 p.m. Romania time, which took into account the latest preliminary reports sent by the Central Election Office in Romania, the PSD-PNL alliace gets two thirds of seats allocated for Romania in EP. S&D will have 11 European deputies from Romania, all coming from PSD. EPP will also have 11 deputies from Romania, 8 from pNL , one from Popular Movement Party and 2 from the Hungarian Democratic Party of Romania.   Renw Europe Group will have 2 European deputies from Save Romania Union, while the Green/Free European Alliance will have 1 seat.   Two other parties, AUR and SOS Romania will have 5 and 2 mandates, and are not affiliated to political parties.   The European Conservatives and Reformists obtained one seat, as Cristian Terhes, included on the AUR polling list is affiliated to the group.   EPP will have 186 seats, S&D 134, Renew 79. ECR will have 73 seats, Identity and Democracy group 58, Greens/EFA – 53 seats. The left will have 36 seats and non-affiliated 44, while there will be 55 members included in the “others”category.
