4,943 foreign-owned companies established in Romania in first ten months

 A total of 4,943 foreign-owned companies were established in Romania in the first ten months of 2024, a decrease of 15.5% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data collected by the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC).These 4,943 new companies had a total subscribed share capital of nearly 17.5 million dollars, a decrease of 85.53% compared to the subscribed capital of firms registered in the first ten months of 2023, which was 121 million dollars.In October 2024, 551 foreign-owned companies were registered (-9.38% compared to the same month in 2023), with a subscribed capital of 597,000 dollars (-87.68%). In terms of activity sectors, the most registrations were recorded in wholesale and retail trade, and auto and motorcycle repair (35.57% of the total), professional, administrative, scientific, and technical activities (17.42% of the total), and transportation, storage, and communications (14.34%).At the end of October 2024, there were 269,937 foreign-owned companies in Romania. The subscribed capital amounted to over 71.74 billion dollars.The largest number of foreign-owned companies came from Italy, with 53,524 companies (subscribed capital of 3.634 billion dollars), while the highest subscribed capital was held by Dutch companies, with 13.218 billion dollars in 6,200 firms.
