ONRC: 481 companies running on foreign capital established in Romania in January 2024

  The number of newly established companies running on foreign capital in Romania increased in January 2024 by 0.4%, compared to the same period in 2023, to 481 units, according to data centralized by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).The 481 new companies had a total subscribed share capital of USD 2.958 million, up 28.1% from the subscribed capital of companies registered in January 2023, of USD 2.309 million.By fields of activity, most registrations were in wholesale and retail trade, auto and motorcycle repair (25.99% of the total), professional, administrative, scientific and technical activities (19.13% of the total) and transportation, warehousing and communications (16.42%).At the end of January 2024, there were 251,707 companies in Romania running on foreign capital. The value of subscribed capital stood at almost USD 70.092 billion.The highest number of companies running on foreign capital had investors from Italy, namely 52,818 (subscribed capital of USD 3.346 billion), but the highest value of share capital belonged to Dutch companies, namely USD 13.019 billion, in 6,098 companies.
