Turkey is Romania's main commercial partner between non EU states

Turkey is Romania's main commercial partner among non EU countries, Bucharest Chamber of Trade and Industry (CCIB) informs.   According to a press release, Turkey represents the main absorbtion market for goods sent from Romania to the extra EU area, and for import the second markets of goods from non EU countries that entered Romania (after China).   “After 2022, a year when bilateral exchanges registered a historic record, the growth tendency continued in 2023, when the total volume of Romanian-Turkish commercial exchanges was 10.2 billion dollars (+8.7% against the previous year), of which 3.3 billion dollars (+10.8%) export and 6.9 billion dollars (+7.7%) import,”a press release mentions.   At the end of 2023, there were 18,523 companies with Turkish capital in Romania (3rd place after Italy and Germany) with a subscribed social capital of 1.1 billion dollars, placing Turkey 14th among investing countries in Romania.   The chairman of Bucharest Chamber, Iuliu Stocklosa, met Recep Kaan Maslac, the president of the Association of Metal Products Exporters from Turkey (MEPEX) based in Ankara, accompanied by Osman Serdar Buyukbektas, the vicepresident of the Association and other collaborators.   According to CCIB, the event took place in connection to the arrival in Romania of an economic mission organized by MEPEX and backed by the Ministry of Trade which included representatives of 22 Turkish companies.   According to MEPEX president, Recep Kaan Maslak, the Association, set up in 1993, gathers over 4,000 members which manufacture a wide range of metal products and equipment for various economic branches: civil and industrial constructions, heavy industry, mining, energy industry, a.o.
