Romania - Sweden 2023 trade exchanges at EUR 1.49 bln

April 17, 2024

The volume of trade between Romania and Sweden stood at EUR 1.49 billion in 2023, up 1.3 percent compared to the previous year, the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) said in a release.Of this amount, deliveries of Romanian goods accounted for EUR 750 million, by 2.4 percent less y-o-y, and incoming Swedish products for EUR 740 million, up 5.4 percent from the year before. There were 1,837 companies running on Swedish capital registered in Romania as of the end of 2023, with a total invested capital of EUR 400 million, placing Sweden 18th among the countries investing in Romania.CCIB president Iuliu Stocklosa met at the CCIB Palace with Peter Johansson - Nassjo Municipality Business Developer, with Iely Chabrouni - founder of ML Intelligent Technology AB, and representatives of the business community of Sweden's Nassjo Municipality.Peter Johansson said that the meeting was the result of the recommendation of the Romanian diaspora in Sweden, which is significantly strong both in Nassjo and in the entire area, and of the desire to promote and develop economic and commercial relations between the two countries, but especially between Bucharest and Jönköping County.According to the cited source, the guests related about the events organized with the participation of the diaspora, including with representatives of various administrative structures and of the Romanian business environment, and expressed their belief that there are opportunities both for a trade boost and for attracting local entrepreneurs to invest in Romania."Although we focus primarily on the promotion of trade exchanges and the internationalization of business with non-EU countries, considering that the European Union is our common home, where our members can more easily find partners, we do not exclude or shy away from contacts with similar institutions and the EU business environment, having as a main goal increasing deliveries of Romanian goods and attracting investments, with a predilection for export-generating ones," said the CCIB president.
