April 24, 2024

The World Bank is interested in financing a series of road projects in Romania, especially in setting up electric and hydrogen charging stations for road transport of goods, according to the general director of the National Company Administering Road Infrastructure (CNAIR) , Cristian Pistol.   “During talks held in Washington we decided to organize a bilateral meeting in Bucharest to carry out the first actions needed for collaboration. Policies and strategies to reduce carbon imprint in the process of building infrastructure represent an important objective for the World Bank,” Pistol wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday. According to the source, less polluting equipment, ecological materials or the use of materials which can be recycled are just a few of the suggestions of World Bank representatives.   For users of transport infrastructure, the World Bank is interested in financing setting up electric and hydrogen charging stations for road transport of goods in particular. Road safety represents another point of interest for the World Bank, next to programs for improving road infrastructure in Romania.   “The rehabilitation of road bridges or the construction of new bridges are in the area of financing granted to Romania by this financial institution. World Bank representatives assured they would back the implementation of projects for road infrastructure through a public-private partnership. The World Bank team present at talks will be headed by Mr Shomik Raj Mehndiratta, Practice Manager Transport ECA- Europe”, said the head of CNAIR.
