Counterfeit goods of over 1 million euros, confiscated by customs inspectors

Customs inspectors from the Bucharest Regional Customs Directorate seized, between April 2-3, 2024, counterfeit goods worth approximately 5.5 million RON (1 euro = 4.96 RON), informs the Romanian Customs Authority through a press release."During 02-04/03/2024, the customs inspectors from the Constanta Border Customs Office as well as from the Constanta South Border Customs Office, acting on the basis of their duties, discovered during the physical control 4,198 pieces of perfumes of various established brands, as well as 16,500 pairs of CROCS model slippers. Suspecting the violation of some intellectual property rights, the customs authority took the measure of detaining the goods," the press release reads.According to the quoted source, their value, in the situation where they would have been sold on the market at the retail price of an original product, is approximately 5.5 million RON."We note that although they can be sold at attractive prices, counterfeit goods present risks that endanger the health and safety of citizens," AVR representatives point out.
