Agriculture: Approx. 2.3 billion euro funds for agriculture, rural development absorbed since year beginning

 Around 2.3 billion euros have been absorbed from European funds since the beginning of the year for agriculture and rural development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) announced on Friday.Thus, 2.29 billion euros have entered the accounts of Romanian farmers since the beginning of this year and so far, European money reimbursed by the European Commission to finance support measures carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development."We are making full use of the available European funds to increase our farmers' capacity to produce Romanian products. Farmers, processors, entrepreneurs and local communities need this support to develop to European standards and we are making sure that the money made available by the European Commission gets where it is needed on time," said Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Florin-Ionut Barbu.The total amount of European funds that Romania has absorbed in agriculture and rural development, from 2015 to 5 June 2024, amounts to 25.4 billion euros, 15.2% more than the amounts absorbed between January 2015 and June 2023.The Ministry of Agriculture manages European funds from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development 2024-2020, including EURI 2021-2023, the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF), including the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN), the European Fund for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs (EFF) 2014-2020, the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund 2021-2027 and European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) National Strategic Plan 2023-2027.
