Ratification of Framework Agreement on establishment of International Solar Alliance, approved by Government

  The Government approved, on Thursday, the ratification of the Framework Agreement on the establishment of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), signed by Romania in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on December 3, 2023.According to a press release from the Executive, the ratification of this Framework Agreement will strengthen Romania's international cooperation with the member states of the International Solar Alliance."By associating with ISA and promoting projects for the use of solar energy, Romania contributes to achieving the objectives established within the European Green Deal (Green Deal), an important initiative to combat the effects of climate change. At the same time, the Framework Agreement provides for the designation of a National Contact Point for ISA with the task of developing programs, promoting financing for innovation, research and development activities, facilitating the exchange of ideas between specialists," the press release states.Currently, 118 states have signed the ISA Accession Agreement."ISA, established in 2015, in Paris, at the initiative of India and with the support of France, is a coalition of countries rich in solar resources, designed to meet the needs of energy consumption. The organization provides a platform for global cooperation, including governments, bilateral and multilateral organizations, corporations and other interested parties, to increase the use of solar energy. In April 2022, the Ministry of Energy of the Romanian Government initiated the steps to join the International Solar Alliance, after participating as an observer in the General Assembly of ISA in October 2021," the press release mentions.The draft law approved by the Government will be sent to Parliament for debate and adoption.
