The minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminita Odobescu, will pay a working visit between June 20-21, 2024 to the United States of America, during which she will have bilateral political consultations with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, informs the Foreign Ministry (MAE) in a press release.The head of Romanian diplomacy will also have meetings with representatives of the U.S. National Security Council, opinion leaders and American think-tanks.The minister of Foreign Affairs will participate in the opening of the Romania-U.S. Economic Forum, where, as a keynote speaker, she will emphasize the potential for the development of Romania-U.S. economic relations, including through bilateral cooperation in the field of energy and in the reconstruction efforts of Ukraine.Organized in the context of the 20th anniversary of Romania's accession to NATO, the visit will provide an opportunity to review the progress made in the bilateral relationship, in cooperation to strengthen Euro-Atlantic security, with an emphasis on the Black Sea region, as well as on identifying ways to further strengthen the Romania-U.S. Strategic Partnership.The dialogue at the level of heads of diplomacy will foreshadow the launch of the 9th session of the Romania-U.S. Strategic Dialogue, whose agenda includes the most important topics of cooperation between our countries. The discussions, which will be attended by dignitaries, representatives of relevant ministries, will focus on cooperation in security and defense, economic exchanges, energy security, interpersonal relations, but also cooperation in justice and internal affairs, with an emphasis on access of Romania in the Visa Waiver Program.
