Romania and Saudi Arabia sign Memorandum of Understanding in agriculture

Romania and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed, on Thursday, a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening commercial relations between the two countries in the field of agriculture, especially in the vegetable sector, animal husbandry - raising cattle, sheep and goats, but also in the use of modern technologies in the field of agriculture."Saudi Arabia is a market for Romanian cereals and will also become a market for products from our farms. In 2023, the export of cereals to Saudi Arabia has increased considerably, due to the discussions held with the officials of the kingdom. The Memorandum of Understanding signed, today, in Riyadh, with my counterpart from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is another important step for the consolidation of commercial relations between the two countries in the field of agriculture, especially in the vegetable sector, animal husbandry - raising cattle, sheep and goats, but also the use of modern technologies in the field of agriculture. Trade exchanges will increase significantly in the next period, especially since the Saudi side is interested in Romanian cereals, but also in the fodder that we process in Romania Romania who have the opportunity to enter into dialogue with the Saudi side, thanks to this Memorandum signed today," the Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu, wrote on his Facebook page.He added that, as of 2019, there was no government-level agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday and Thursday, an event during which high-level meetings with the Saudi authorities, the business environment, and field visits are scheduled.The State Secretary, Sorin Moise, is part of the delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture.
