Residential building permits in Romania, down 1.3pct% in H1 2024

The number of building permits for residential buildings decreased by 1.3% in Romania in H1 2024, year-on-year, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Wednesday.Thus, in H1 2024, 16,925 residential building permits were issued. Decreases were recorded in the following development regions Centru (-281 permits), Nord-Vest (-224) and Sud-Est (-38), and increases in Bucharest-Ilfov (+141 permits), Vest (+88), Sud-Muntenia (+46), Sud-Vest Oltenia (+39), and Nord-East (+14).According to INS, in June 2024, 2,875 residential building permits were issued, down 5.7% on a monthly basis, of a total usable area of 625,690 sqm (-10.4%). Of the total residential building permits, 70.7% were for the countryside.In June 2024, there was a monthly decrease in the number of residential building permits (-175 permits). The decrease was reflected in the following development regions: Nord-Est (-99 permits), Nord-Vest (-53), Sud-Muntenia (-41), Sud-Vest Oltenia (-40), Centru (-17,) and Vest (-15). Increases were recorded in the development regions of Bucharest-Ilfov (+73 permits) and Sud Est (+17).
