Gov't approves budget additions for certain public sectors, Ukrainian refugees

The budget of the Transport and Infrastructure Ministry was supplemented on Thursday with approximately RON 820 million for covering the subsidies to the railway passenger transport and for settling the costs with the beneficiaries of train, metro, road and ship travel facilities, the government informs on Thursday in a release.Also on Thursday, the government supplemented the budget of the Romanian Academy with over RON 8.7 million for current and capital expenditures with the Library of the institution, and also approved a total amount of RON 1,604,300 in emergency aid to 405 families and single persons in various counties, the recipients being in situations of need caused by fires, dangerous meteorological phenomena or special situations caused by poor health or other causes that can lead to an increase in the risk of social exclusion. The disbursement of these aid amounts is ensured from the 2024 budget of the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity.At the same meeting, the government approved an extra RON 68 million for the budget of the Ministry of the Interior from the Government Reserve Fund for 2024. The money will be distributed to the county emergency inspectorates, respectively the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Inspectorate for covering social assistance expenses over January - June for foreign citizens coming from the Ukraine conflict zone who benefit from temporary protection in Romania.
