Scorching heat to grip half of Romania for three days

The National Weather Administration (ANM) issued on Monday code yellow and code orange of heat warnings, valid on August 12, 13 and 14 in half of Romania.According to meteorologists, tMonday was a code yellow of increased thermal discomfort in the south of Crisana, in Banat, Oltenia and in most of Muntenia. The temperature-humidity index (THI) reached and exceeded critical 80, and the highs were around 35 - 37 degrees Celsius, to a maximum of 38 degrees Celsius. Tropical nights were expected, with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius.The counties included in the warning were Arges, Arad, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Dambovita, Dolj, Gorj, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Mehedinti, Olt, Prahova, Timis, Teleorman, Valcea, and Bucharest City.On Tuesday, August 13, a second code yellow of heat will be in place at the same time with a code orange alert in parts of Crisana, southwestern Transylvania, northeastern Muntenia, southwestern Dobrogea, Southern and Western Carpathians, as well as Banat, Oltenia and most of Muntenia. Highs will be around 35 - 38 degrees Celsius, with lows varying between 21 and 22 degrees Celsius.There will be a code orange in the counties of Timis, Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Ialomita, Calarasi and Bucharest City, in full, and partial in Gorj, Valcea, Arges, Dambovita and Prahova, and a code yellow covering the counties of Arad, Bihor, Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu, Buzau, Braila, in full, and patially Gorj, Valcea, Arges, Dambovita, Prahova and Constanta.On Wednesday, August 14, a code yellow of hot weather will be valid in Crisana, southwestern Transylvania, northern Oltenia, and part of the western and central Muntenia, where the THI should exceed critical 80 and highs reach 37 degrees Celsius. The counties of Arad, Bihor, Hunedoara, Alba, Sibiu, Gorj, Valcea, Arges, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Ilfov and Bucharest City will be under code yellow.At the same time, a code orange will be valid in Banat, southern and south-western Oltenia, as well as in south-western Muntenia. Highs will go into 39 degrees Celsius, while lows will be 21 - 22 degrees Celsius, up to 24 degrees in southern Banat. The warning covers the counties of Timis, Caras Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt and Teleorman.
