Romania is going to benefit from financial assistance from the USA worth approximately 10 million US dollars to strengthen and make more efficient its policies in preventing and combating minor trafficking.Thus, the Executive approved, on Wednesday, a memorandum regarding the conclusion of a Partnership between the Government of Romania and the Government of the United States of America, according to a press release sent by the Government."Through this Memorandum, the text of the Child Protection Compact (CPC) Partnership to be signed between the Government of Romania and the Government of the United States of America has been approved, through which Romania will benefit from financial assistance worth approximately 10 million US dollars to strengthen and make more efficient its policies in preventing and combating minor trafficking," the source said.The Child Protection Compact (CPC) Partnership is circumscribed by the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the USA. It would take place for a period of five years and is structured on four objectives: prevention, protection, prosecution and cooperation between government authorities and the civil society.The identified objectives are in accordance with the National Strategy Against Trafficking in Persons for the period 2024-2028. Thus, the following are targeted: the creation of a Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child Safety within the Ministry of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities - the National Authority for the Protection of Children's Rights and Adoption; the creation of a National Centre for Combating Abuse and Sexual Exploitation of Minors in the Online Environment, at the level of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police/Ministry of Interior; increasing the degree of awareness, sensitization and information regarding the trafficking of minors and child pornography, including for the improvement of proactive identification and the consolidation of specialized training of those who come into contact with potential minor victims.
