On World EV Day, the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest is proud to share the strides we’ve made in transitioning to a greener, more sustainable fleet of vehicles. Our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and promoting environmentally friendly practices by using hybrid and electric vehicles aligns with the spirit of World EV Day—a day dedicated to highlighting the benefits of electric vehicles (EVs) and accelerating the global shift toward sustainable transportation. “The U.S. Embassy Romania is taking important steps towards our common goal, as a society, to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. The Embassy’s growing fleet of electric vehicles advances our environmental goals while showcasing American innovation and green technology. We’re proud to contribute to meeting President Biden’s pledge to cut greenhouse gas pollution in half by 2030,” Ambassador Kavalec said according to the press release sent by the Press Office of the U.S. Embassy-Bucharest Starting in 2021, the Embassy began replacing its petrol vehicles with Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) – Over three years, these vehicles have reduced CO? emissions by over 3,700 kg. Earlier this year, we purchased two more plug-in hybrid vehicles to replace three petrol vehicles in our fleet. These are important achievements that show the Embassy’s commitment to helping our local community mitigate climate change. Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to expand our green fleet further by replacing more petrol vehicles with green cars. With these new additions, we estimate an annual reduction in CO? emissions of over 6,200 kg. This change underscores our dedication to being responsible guests in Romania, enhancing our shared values. On World EV Day, we celebrate these achievements and reaffirm our commitment to reducing environmental impact through innovative and sustainable transportation solutions. We are proud to #DriveChange and to continue supporting the shift to a decarbonized society. We encourage others to join us on this vital journey toward a cleaner, greener future!
