Tesla’s growth in Romania has been remarkable since it first entered the market in May 2021. The company’s decision to open a flagship store in Bucharest was needed as the demand for electric vehicles in Romania has been rapidly increasing. The Tesla Center Bucharest Splaiul Unirii, which previously handled Tesla’s operations in the capital, will now see its activities relocated to the new, larger facility, which will see hundreds of cars delivered weekly. Since 2021, Tesla has seen explosive growth in Romania, achieving an almost 13-fold increase in sales by 2023. Tesla has sold over 3,000 units annually, with the Model Y emerging as a clear favourite among Romanian buyers. In fact, more than 6,000 Teslas now drive on Romanian roads, with the Model 3 and Model Y accounting for the bulk of these sales. Tesla’s expansion in Romania extends beyond showrooms. The company has installed multiple Supercharger stations in key cities such as Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, and Timisoara, among others.
