ForMin Odobescu, at Future Summit in New York, emphasizes importance of respecting international law

   The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminita Odobescu, participated on Sunday, in New York, at the opening of the Future Summit, an event that precedes the High-level Week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs.Odobescu gave a speech in the interactive dialogue with the theme "Consolidation of multilateralism for international peace and security", on which occasion she reaffirmed Romania's support for effective multilateralism, centered on UN principles.At the same time, she emphasized the importance of respecting international law, human rights and democratic values, as essential premises in the implementation of the Pact for the Future.On the sidelines of the Future Summit, Odobescu had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, with whom she discussed the state of bilateral relations, emphasizing the important potential for increasing trade and investment, as well as and interest in expanding cooperation in areas such as transport, agriculture and cyber security. Also, the meeting was the occasion for an exchange of views regarding the evolution of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, respectively the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.Minister Odobescu also had a meeting with Mantas Adomenas, the general secretary of the Community of Democracies (CoD). She conveyed her support for the activity of Adomenas, who is at the beginning of his mandate, and reiterated Romania's full willingness to cooperate in promoting CoD objectives.The Future Summit brings together leaders from around the world and includes a plenary session and four interactive dialogues.  (Photo:https://www.mae.ro/)
