Authorities in the Republic of Moldova will arrange sixteen polling stations on Romanian territory for the presidential elections and the referendum on the modification of Constitution, both due on October 20.According to a press release of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest, three of the sixteen polling stations will be located in Bucharest, two of which will be placed at the headquarters of the Permanent Electoral Authority and one at the headquarters of the National Council for Solving Complaints, and also one in Cluj and one in Iasi. Moreover, the Moldovan citizens will be able to express their right to vote by going to the polling stations located in Bacau, Brasov, Constanta, Craiova, Galati, Oradea, Sibiu, Suceava and Timisoara.The polling stations will be opened as of 7.00 am and they will be closed at 9.00 pm. The vote will be expressed based on a valid identity card, or based on either a valid or expired passport. The presidential elections and the constitutional referendum on October 20 are the most important democratic elections since the declaration of independence of the Republic of Moldova, the Moldovan ambassador in Bucharest, Victor Chirila, said on Tuesday.According to the Moldovan diplomat, the vote on October 20 "will seal the destiny of the Republic of Moldova for the next decades"."The European states have opened the door wide for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU. Now it is our turn to clearly tell our European partners if we want and are ready to cross the threshold of the Union. The question addressed to the voters will be "Do you support amending the Constitution with a view to the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union?", and the answers will be "Yes" or "No".
