Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, on an official visit to Chisinau on Friday, met Republic of Moldova President Maia Sandu, an important topic of the talks being the European course of the neighbouring country, in the context that the visit takes place shortly before the referendum on EU accession to be held in Moldova, on the same day as the presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova.According to a government press release, Ciolacu highlighted on this occasion that Romania believes in the European vocation of the Republic of Moldova and will continue to support unequivocally the continuation of this path on which the authorities in Chisinau have embarked with confidence and responsibility, managing to cope with unprecedented crises and hybrid challenges, which have arisen in the wake of the war unleashed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.At the same time, the prime minister noted the appreciation and respect that the Republic of Moldova enjoys from all partners in the European Union and congratulated the firm European commitment of the head of state, Maia Sandu, for the exemplary and persuasive way in which she is involved in implementing the reforms necessary for accession to the European Union.
