Retele Electrice companies buy transformers worth about 55 million lei for grid modernization projects

November 21, 2024

Retele Electrice companies have initiated a public tender on the SEAP platform, with a maximum cumulative value of about 55 million lei (excluding VAT), for the purchase of transformers from medium voltage to low voltage, so that they can carry out modernization projects to increase the resilience and reliability of their distribution networks. "With this purchase, we want to ensure that our electricity grid will become more resilient in the long term. In addition to modernizing the network, these transformers will help increase the grid's ability to integrate renewable energy sources", stated Mihai Pe?te, Director General of Retele Electrice companies.   These transformers will replace old equipment and will bring significant improvements both in terms of the quality of distributed energy, grid stability and in reducing own technological consumption. Once installed, they will allow more efficient distribution of electricity, thus contributing to lower operational costs, reducing the number of interruptions in the grid and improving the overall functioning of the system.   One of the selection criteria in the specifications is the sustainability factor, underlining once again the company's commitment to protecting the environment. This means that bidders who can bring environmentally friendly packaged materials can receive extra points based on the evaluation grid.   The contract will have a validity period of 2 years.   Retele Electrice companies operate networks with a total length of aproximately 134,000 kilometers in three important areas of the country: South Muntenia (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, covering a third of the local distribution market, and are developing an investment program to improve quality services, safety and performance of networks and local implementation of environmental standards of the PPC group. The electrical networks operated by the three companies Retele Electrice count 289 transformer stations and over 25,000 transformer stations.
