Under Secretary Jenkins Travels to Romania

December 11, 2024

Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie Jenkins will travel to Romania from November 12-14, United States Department of State informs.    While in Romania, she will lead the U.S. Delegation for the Global Forum to Prevent Radiological and Nuclear Terrorism (Global FTPRNT).  The Global FTPRNT fills a current gap in international fora to address radiological and nuclear terrorism since all official activities under the United States and Russian Federation co-chaired Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism were paused in 2022 following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.  Discussions at Global FTPRNT will include cooperation to improve the detection, response, and mitigation to a radiological event.  Under Secretary Jenkins will also provide opening remarks on the impact of emerging technologies to combat nuclear and radiological terrorism.
