November 13, 2024

The mayor of Oradea, Florin Birta, announced on Wednesday the start of works on a major investment in the city's heating system, by replacing the existing energy group 1 with a modern one, a project worth about 48 million euros, financed from the state budget (85%) and from the local budget (15%)."Until the end of next year, all the thermal energy produced in Oradea will come from new, efficient installations, which reduce losses and pollution and ensure a much better quality of the heating agent for the population. It is an essential investment for the health and comfort of our community", mayor Florin Birta told a press conference at the Electric Heating Plant (CET).The investment includes a production unit with four modern natural gas thermal engines, with an electrical capacity of 30.16 MWe and a thermal capacity of 25.98 MWt, as well as two hot water boilers (CAFs) of 25 MWt each each, a pumping station and a modernized electrical station, the decommissioning of the old cooling towers and the modernization of the infrastructure, including the adaptation of the gas and heating networks. The four high-efficiency thermal engines for cogeneration will produce electricity and heating and will be connected to the national grid through an electrical discharge station. The builders - the association between the companies Loial Impex from Suceava (leader), Engul SRO from Slovakia and Moldproiect ASD from Suceava - have a completion date of October 2025.The implementation of the project will bring direct benefits for the inhabitants of Oradea by reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 18,815.6 tons annually and an energy saving of over 8,012 toe."This heating system modernization project represents a firm commitment of the Oradea administration to transform Oradea into a sustainable and efficient city, offering citizens public services at the highest European standards", the press release states.
