Central Asia, Azerbaijan forge green energy links with new venture in Romania

A joint venture for the Caspian, Black Sea, and European 'green energy corridor' has already been set up in Bucharest, Romania, said Fagan Abdurahmanov, Head of the Renewable Energy Zones Development Department at the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA). https://en.trend.az/reports.   He made the remark as he addressed the energy transition investment forum for Central Asia at COP29. "One key part of our broader initiative is the creation of a new Energy Corridor with Central Asia. We’ve already signed a joint communiqué and memorandum of understanding with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. This energy project also includes the development of a green energy corridor," he explained.   Abdurahmanov noted that the technical assignment for the project was finalized in a short time, with an Italian company selected as the consultant to prepare a technical study. This study will be similar to the one being conducted for the Black Sea route. "The next joint venture for the Central Asia corridor will have its headquarters in Baku," he added. He also mentioned that the parties are now preparing for the next phase of the project.
