Romania's retail turnover (except for motor vehicles and motorcycles) saw an increase of 8.7%, as gross series, in the first ten months of this year, compared to the corresponding period in 2023, according to data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).According to the same source, compared to the reference interval, increases were recorded in sales of non-food products (+14.8%), foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (+4.3%) and automotive fuels in specialized stores (+3.6%).Also, the retail business increased by 8% overall, as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality, due to sales of non-food products (+13.9%), sales of foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (+3.8%) and of automotive fuels in specialized stores (+3.3%).Official data also reveal that, in October 2024 vs. October 2023, the retail turnover (except for motor vehicles and motorcycles), went up 11.1%, as gross series, due to the sales of non-food products (+19.4%), sales of foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco (+5.8%) and sales of motor fuel in specialized stores (+2.9%).According to the INS, in October this year compared to the previous month, the retail businesses (except for trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles) increased both as gross series (+2.3%) and as adjusted series (+0.9%).
