Study: 27% of Romanians are pessimistic about 2025, the percentage being up by 8% compared to last year

January 7, 2025

The latest study by Reveal Marketing Research aims to find out more about the expectations and hopes of Romanians related to 2025, but also how they evolved compared to the similar study conducted 1 year ago.   27% of Romanians are rather pessimistic about 2025, the percentage being up by 8% compared to last year. 25% of Romanians plan to change jobs in the new year, especially young people aged 18-34 (40%). 2025 Romanian plans: healthier lifestyle (51%), more family time (29%) and more travel (29%).   27% of Romanians are rather pessimistic about 2025, the percentage being up by 8% compared to last year According to the latest study of Reveal Marketing Research, pessimism is growing among Romanians in 2025, 27% expect a more difficult life in the new year, compared to 19% last year.   45% of Romanians do not adopt any optimistic, nor pessimistic, this attitude highlighting the uncertainty they feel about the future. On the other hand, 28% say they look with optimism towards the coming year, the percentage being significantly higher among those with incomes over RON 6000 (33%).   „Increasing pessimism and the prevalence of a neutral attitude suggest that Romanians are increasingly feeling social and economic insecurity. At the same time, the higher optimism among those with high incomes reflects a difference of perception, determined by the access to financial resources,” mentions Marius Luican, CEO of Reveal Marketing Research.   The level of satisfaction of Romanians in relation to their lives and the vision on the future of the country   Assessing the level of satisfaction with various aspects of everyday life, we find that Romanians are most satisfied with their interpersonal relationships with their family (72%), close people (67%) or sentimental relationships (61%).  As a trend, low-income people (below 3000 RON) are less satisfied with sentimental relationships (40%).   The lowest satisfaction scores were recorded by issues related to the professional sphere, namely the level of satisfaction with the job (48%) and the current financial situation (42%).   Amid professional grievances, 25% of Romanians plan to change jobs in the new year, especially young people aged 18-34 (40%) and those who have children (29% versus 23% for those without children).   The pessimism of Romanians reaches high levels in relation to the prospects of the country’s evolution in the next year. Decreasing corruption (54%), reducing inflation (51%) and improving the economic situation (47%) are considered difficult targets to achieve in the next 12 months.   Romanian plans and resolutions for 2025   The main plans of Romanians for 2025 include a healthier lifestyle – balanced nutrition, weight loss (51%), more time spent with family (29%) or more journeys (29%).   The desire to approach a healthier lifestyle is significantly higher among mature people over 55 years (70% vs. 51% total sample), the study found, while for those aged 44-55 years the desire to travel more is more important (35% vs. 29% total sample).   If we turn our attention to young people, those aged 25-34 want to develop new skills more (19% vs. 12% total sample) or attend personal and professional development courses (13% vs. 7% total sample). *** About Reveal Marketing Research Reveal Marketing Research is a full-service market research company specializing in marketing research, sociological studies, customer insight, business strategy, market development.
