eJobs Report: Employers at home and abroad had nearly 300,000 jobs available in 2024

Nearly 300,000 new jobs were registered in 2024 on one of Romania's leading online recruitment platforms and the number of applications stood at around 11 million, the data of an annual specialized report shows.According to a press release from eJobs, the past year has seen an upward trend in the number of candidates aged between 18 and 24 who want to get a job. At the same time, seasonality in recruitment is starting to disappear.According to the data included in the 9th edition of the annual Review & Trends report by eJobs Romania, out of the total number of jobs posted, 87.9% were for Romania, 4.2% for abroad and 7.9% remote. The cities with the most jobs were: Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Brasov, Ilfov, Timisoara, Craiova, Constanta, Ploiesti and Bacau.Also, the areas that offered the most jobs were retail, services and food industry, the same as in 2023. Ranking fourth is the call center/BPO industry, up three positions, year over year, and on the fifth place are employers in tourism/HoReCa, down one position. The ranking is continued with the segments: transportation/logistics, construction, manufacturing, IT/telecom and banking.Among the most attractive fields for candidates, the top position is still in retail, followed by call center/BPO, service provision, IT/telecom, banking, tourism/HoReCa and transport/logistics."2024 was a year of increased interest among candidates to get a new job. The 11 million applications also came with more than 320,000 new accounts created by candidates, up 20.6% from 2023. 4 out of 10 new accounts belonged to candidates aged 18-24, with this category bringing in the most new candidates for the whole year, but also 2.8 million applications, or a quarter of the total. 88% of young new entrants had less than one year's experience in the labor market. 85% of applications were for full-time jobs, 12.8% for part-time and 1.2% for seasonal or project-based jobs," the report says.Remote recruitment was down 36% last year compared to 2023. Specifically, employers had 12,800 open positions, which attracted 1.5 million applications.Most jobs came from employers in call-center/BPO, IT/telecom, service provision, retail and education/training, respectively.In contrast, the number of jobs posted by employers abroad was almost double, with 23,000 positions, most for Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, France, Spain, Austria, Italy, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium and the UK. "However, 2024 was the year with the fewest applications for jobs abroad in the past six years, and those opting for a career abroad looked in particular at destinations such as Germany, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, Greece, Belgium, Spain and Austria," the cited source notes.Review & Trends is the annual report drawn by eJobs Romania, which includes an overview of the previous year and the main labor market trends for the new year.
