Bucharest companies had international trade operations of over 40 billion euros in 2024

Companies based in Bucharest had, in the first 8 months of 2024, international trade operations of 40.1 billion euros, representing 28% of Romania's foreign trade, ranking first at national level.   According to a press release sent by Bucharest Chamber of Trade and Industry (CCIB), issued on Tuesday, based on statistic data announced by the National Statistic Institute (INS) about the evolution of Romania's commercial exchanges, Bucharest companies are followed by the counties of Ilfov (8%), Timis (7.7%), Arges (5%), Brasov (4%) and Cluj (3.6%).   At the same time, in the same period, Bucharest companies delivered goods of 12.1 billion euros abroad, the equivalent of 19.8% of Romania's total exports. Bucharest was followed by the counties: Timis (9.4%), Arges (7.9%), Brasov (5%), Ilfov (5%), Dolj (4.4%), Arad (4.3%), Alba (4.1%), Prahova (3.5%) and Sibiu (3.3%). The share of these ten counties in Romania's export was 66.7%, while the rest of 32 had 33.3%.   The main groups of exported goods by companies based in Bucharest were: electric machines and equipment and their parts (26.4%), vegetal produce (15.8%), mineral products (14.4%), chemical industry products (7.5%), foodstuff, beverages, alcoholic liquids and vinegar, tobacco and processed tobacco replacements (5.9%), common metals and articles (5.3%), auxilliary transport vehicles and accessories (3.2%), textile materials and articels (3.1%), optic equipment and instruments (3%).   On the overall, the ten groups of exported goods have a share of 89.4%) of the export of Bucharest companies.   In the case of imports, the concentration is higher, and Bucharest based companies recorded 28 billion euros, representing a share of 34.1% of Romania's import, over January 1- August 31, 2024.   The Capital city that holds a third of all imports, was followed by the counties of Ilfov – 10.3%, Timis (6.4%), Arges (4.5%), Cluj (3.8%), Prahova (3.6%), Brasov (3.3%), Alba (2.7%), Constanta (2.7%) and Arad (2.6%). The share of the ten counties in Romania's imports was 74%, while the rest was 26%.   The main 6 groups found in the statistics of the analysed period included: machines and equipment, electric equipment and their parts (22.3%), chemical industry products (17.1%), mineral products (10.7%), vehicles, aircraft , transport ships and equipment (8.4%), foodstuff, beverages, alcoholoc drinks and vinegar, tobacco (7.7%), common metals and articles (6.2%), with a total share of 72.4% in imports of Bucharest companies.
