Final electricity consumption in Romania, up 1.5pct % Jan-Nov 2024

Final electricity consumption in Romania in the first 11 months of 2024 was 46.029 billion kWh, 1.8% higher than in the period January 1 - November 30, 2023, with the final commercial electricity consumption increasing by 1.5%, household consumption by 3.2%, while public lighting decreased by 4.7%, according to data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).Primary energy sources decreased by 0.4% in the first 11 months of 2024, and electricity sources increased by 0.2%, y-o-y. Thus, the main primary energy sources totalled 29.777 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), down129,900 toe y-o-y.Domestic production amounted to 15.477 million toe, down 765,300 toe (-4.7%) as against January 1 - November 30, 2023, and imports amounted to 14.299 million toe, up 635,400 toe (+4.7%).Electricity sources amounted to 60.242 billion kWh, up118.9 million kWh y-o-y.Thermal power plants generated 15.728 billion kWh, down 248.7 million kWh (-1.6%).Hydropower plants generated 13.410 billion kWh, down 3.739 billion kWh (-21.8%), and nuclear power plants produced 9.892 billion kWh, down 284.5 million kWh (-2.8%).Between January 1 and November 30, 2024, wind power plants generated 5.613 billion kWh, down 1.318 billion kWh y-o-y, and the solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations was 3.369 billion kWh, up 1.224 billion kWh y-o-y.Electricity exports amounted to 9.860 billion kWh, down 566.4 million kWh.Technological self-consumption in networks and stations was 4.353 billion kWh, down 136.1 million kWh.
