Romania and India have a tradition that they should continue in terms of collaboration in business sectors with great potential for development, such as the IT&C industry, with a focus on the development of the segment represented by artificial intelligence, the aerospace industry, as well as the civil and military aeronautics, according to Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania Mihai Daraban.He had an official meeting on Wednesday with the new ambassador of India to Romania, Manika Jain, to discuss strengthening bilateral economic ties by identifying the economic sectors that the two nations can promote among the business communities in order to increase the value of trade."From our point of view, that of the National Chamber, although in 2023 the total value of trade between the two countries exceeded EUR 1.6 billion, their economic ties are underused. Romania's geographical positioning, with access to the Black Sea, can be a business opportunity for the Indian business community in terms of facilitating the transport of goods from this country to Europe. Romania and India already have a tradition in terms of collaboration in economic sectors with great development potential, a tradition that we intend to continue. We are talking about the IT&C industry, with a focus on the development of the segment represented by artificial intelligence, the aerospace industry, as well as the civil and military aeronautics. Obviously, there are other Romanian economic sectors of interest to Indian investors that we can analyse in a periodic dialogue with the Indian Embassy in Romania," Daraban is quoted as saying in a CCIR press statement.In his turn, the new Indian ambassador to Romania said that the meeting was a priority in the activity of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest, an absolutely necessary step for boosting the economic ties between the two business communities.At the moment, there are 486 companies running on Indian capital in Romania.The ambassador said that as a result of today's discussions, in a short time the number of these companies will increase. Apart from the economic sectors mentioned by the president of CCIR, infrastructure - where the two countries can develop large-scale joint projects- should be added, according to the ambassador.
