Acting President Bolojan: Romania's foreign policy to reaffirm our primary objectives

March 13, 2025

The acting President of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, assures European partners and NATO allies that Romania remains a reliable ally, firmly committed to a cohesive European Union, a stronger Euro-Atlantic Alliance and a solid transatlantic partnership."As Interim President of Romania, I reassure all our partners and allies that Romania remains a reliable ally, firmly committed to a cohesive European Union, a stronger NATO and a solid transatlantic partnership," Ilie Bolojan wrote on the X platform on Friday.   Bolojan presented Romania's foreign policy priorities on Friday, mentioning ensuring the stability, prosperity and security of Romanian citizens.''Romania's foreign policy will reassert our primary objectives: ensuring stability, prosperity and security for the Romanian citizens, as well as in our neighbourhood and beyond'', Bolojan wrote on the X platform.Previously, he assured European partners and NATO allies that Romania remains a reliable ally, firmly committed to a cohesive European Union, a stronger Euro-Atlantic Alliance and a solid transatlantic partnership. His statements come in the context of statements by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance on cancellation of the presidential election in Romania.''I was struck that a former European commissioner went on television recently and sounded delighted that the Romanian government had just annulled an entire election. He warned that if things don't go as planned, the very same thing could happen in Germany too. These cavalier statements are shocking to American ears. (...) When we see European courts canceling elections and senior officials threatening to cancel others, we ought to ask whether we're holding ourselves to an appropriately high standard. In fact, we must do more than talk about democratic values, we must live them now,'', J.D. Vance said in a speech delivered at the Munich Security Conference.
