Agriculture : Grains market 2025: Romania, undeniable leader in EU

Romania ranks first in the EU grains market with an export level above the other member states. As expected, wheat is the main cereal sold in Romania in this season, but the top shows similar results in case of barley exports.   According to data released by AGRI Column, since the beginning of 2024-2025 season, that is as of July 1, 2024 until the present day, Romania exported over 3.2 million tons of wheat to third countries, without taking into account trade within EU. Lithuania ranks second with 1.4 million tons, followed by France (1.28 million tons), Germany (1.23 million tons), Poland (0.95 million tons) and Bulgaria (0.88 million tons).   As for barley, Romania exported, during the same period of time, 1.36 million tons, being followed by France with 410,000 tons. The top also includes Germany with 205,000 tons, Bulgaria with 97,000 tons, Lithiania with 31,000 tons and Poland with 593 tons, Agro TV shows. The general classification for overall exports of wheat, barley and corn in the commercial season 2024-2025 is as follows: Romania- 4,989,978 tons, France -1,913,685 tons, Lithuania – 1,466,879 tons, Germany- 1,453,410 tons, Poland -1,311,608 tons, Bulgaria -990,370 tons.
