Business suspensions in Romania in 2024 was 18,716, up 14.58% from the previous year, according to data published by the National Companies Register Office (ONRC).Most of the suspensions were recorded in Bucharest City, 2,252 (up 13.79 from 2023). The capital is followed by the counties of Cluj, with 1,162 suspesnions (plus 9.93%), Iasi - 851 (plus 15.16%), Brasov - 822 (plus 13.85%), Bihor - 800 (plus 19.23%) and Timis725 (plus 22.26%).On the other hand, the fewest suspensions were recorded in the counties of Ialomita - 123 (plus 26.8% compared to the previous year), Covasna - 139 (plus 13.01%), Gorj - 134 (plus 2.29%), Teleorman - 141 (minus 0.7%) and Giurgiu - 143 (plus 48.96%).The largest increases in the number of suspensions were recorded in the counties of Tulcea (plus 62.38%), Dambovita (plus 55.38%) and Giurgiu (plus 48.96%), while decreases occurred only in the counties of Caras-Severin (minus 5.35%), Valcea (minus 4.03%), Satu Mare (minus 0.72%) and Teleorman (minus 0.7%).The highest number of suspensions was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 4,390 (plus 12.82% from 2023), in professional, scientific and technical activities - 1,767 suspensions (plus 6.06%) and in construction - 1,688 suspensions (plus 31.46%).In December 2024, 1,963 suspensions were recorded, most of them in Bucharest City (258) and the counties of Cluj (137), Iasi (93), Brasov (86) and Sibiu (75).
