The Bihor County Council is a partner in a cross-border project with Hungarian local entities for the construction of a renewable energy installation at the future multi-purpose cultural center in Oradea.The cross-border project was launched on Wednesday at the Oradea Science and Technology Park, in the presence of representatives from Hungary's Hajdu-Bihar County, the Bihor County Council, as well as from the management of the Romania-Hungary Program Management Authority and the Oradea Regional Cross-Border Cooperation Office for the Romania-Hungary Border (BRECO)."This strategic project for both Bihor and Hajdu-Bihar counties is a natural continuation of the good cooperation between these two regions. Romania's entry to the Schengen Area must be an incentive for an even better cooperation at the level of our region, either through partnerships under the Interregional programs, or in other projects our communities so badly need," the vice-president of the Bihor County Council Horea Abrudan declared in the opening of the event.Apart from its initiator - Hungary's Hajdu-Bihar County Council, the project has six partners: the local governments of Berettyoujfalu, Hajdudorog, Kaba, Letavertes, the Hajdu-Bihar County Development Agency, and the Bihor County Council.The project envisages increasing the capacity of specific infrastructures and the use of renewable energy sources by exploiting geothermal energy sources in systems running with heat pumps (Hajdu-Bihar County, Berettyoujfalu and Bihor County) and heat exchangers (Hajdudorog, Kaba and Letavertes).The total investment worth 25 million euros covers 27 public buildings in the border area owned/managed by the project partners and will be completed within 36 months, from January 2025 to December 2027.The project "Capitalizing on Renewable Energy in the Romanian-Hungarian Cross-Border Area" is financed through the 2021 - 2027 Interreg VI-A Romania-Hungary Program.
