Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Romanian justice system is independent and no one is above the law

The Romanian judiciary is independent and no one is above the law, and there should be no pressure in this area, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), Andrei Tarnea, said on Thursday on the X platform."The Romanian judiciary is independent and no one is above the law. The justice system must operate free from pressure and interference. Romania is a democracy, a state governed by the rule of law, and the Romanian authorities are focused on ensuring free, fair and transparent elections," the Romanian ministry spokesperson said in a response to Elon Musk.Several EU embassies on Thursday sent messages of support for the Romanian judiciary."France reaffirms its solidarity with Romania, a state governed by the rule of law, which respects the separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary. These principles are fundamental to our democracies," showed the Embassy representatives, on X.The German Ambassador in Bucharest, Peer Gebauer, said on the same platform that "Romania is a trustworthu partner on which Germany can rely in the EU and NATO"."Both countries embrace democratic values and firmly believe in the rule of law. Both Germany and Romania respect independent judicial systems," the diplomat added.The Dutch embassy conveyed that it "acknowledges Romania's assiduous efforts to strengthen the judiciary"."As EU and NATO partners, we share common values and have confidence in our democracies and institutions," the diplomatic mission said on X.Madrid also had an online message in this context."As strategic partners, Romania and Spain firmly support their respect for the independence of justice.
