U.S. company Expro, awarded major contracts for Neptun Deep project

Expro, a leading provider of energy services has been awarded major contracts from OMV Petrom, totalling more than 10 million USD for the Neptun Deep gas project in the Black Sea, a company press release informs.The contracts involve a series of Expro technology and services to support the project in offshore Romania. The two contracts mark the latest stage in Expro's growth in Romania. Recent investments by the company include opening a new office in Bucharest, setting up a new operational base, and a program to grow its Romanian-based staff."Neptun Deep is an important energy project for Romania. We are proud of being selected to support this important development," said Andrei Ion, Expro Senior Area Manager in Europe, Mediterranean and Caspian.OMV Petrom, which is majority-owned by OMV, with Romania holding a 20.7% stake, announced for the first time in 2012 that it had discovered between 42 and 84 billion cubic metres of gas in the Black Sea. OMV Petrom and the state-owned producer Romgaz, which jointly hold the Neptun Deep project in equal shares, made the investment decision in the Neptun Deep project in 2023.The production from Neptun Deep is expected to be approximately 8 billion cubic metres annually for about 10 years, nearly doubling Romania's gas production.In the coming weeks, Mighty Barents drilling platform will travel 160 kilometres across the sea and begin drilling operations on the ten exploration wells that make up Neptun Deep, one of the most important gas fields in the EU.
