Foreign Affairs Minister Emil Hurezeanu participated on Wednesday in a working meeting with the EU heads of mission accredited to Bucharest.Against the backdrop of the security situation in Ukraine and the latest decisions of the EU political leaders, Emil Hurezeanu emphasized Romania's support for the goal of strengthening the European Union's security and defense policy actions, underlining the need for relevant steps to be carried out in complementarity with NATO, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a release.The Romanian top diplomat reiterated the importance of a solid transatlantic partnership, which is key for European security and prosperity, and also emphasized Romania's support for the continuation of the multidimensional support for Ukraine, referencing Romania's contribution to date, inclusively for the goal of achieving a just and lasting peace, in accordance with the principles of international law.The foreign minister reiterated Romania's support for the continuation of the EU enlargement process and highlighted the importance of the accession to the Union of both Eastern and Western Balkan partners, based on their own merits, mentioning in this context the steps taken by the Republic of Moldova to advance its European path, and the need for continued EU and member states' support for the Moldovan authorities' European integration efforts.The Romanian top diplomat also welcomed the recent developments, with the European Parliament approving the Growth Facility for the Republic of Moldova.Hurezeanu underlined the importance of the goal of developing European economic competitiveness by strengthening the Single Market, promoting innovation and connectivity, as well as the need for the future Multiannual Financial Framework of the Union to respond to the strategic priorities agreed at European level through the 2024 - 2029 Strategic Agenda. He also stressed the important role of the Cohesion Policy and the Common Agricultural Policy as essential instruments for creating a solid basis for implementing competitiveness policies and for achieving European convergence.The meeting was organized in the context of Poland holding the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
