Legendary pianist Martha Argerich to perform two concerts at 2025 edition of George Enescu Festival

 Martha Argerich, one of the world's most acclaimed and appreciated pianists, returns to the George Enescu International Festival for two concerts of high artistic quality, ARTEXIM announced on Tuesday.* On Sunday, August 31, Martha Argerich will perform Ludwig van Beethoven's Concerto No. 1 in C major for piano and orchestra Op. 15, together with the Orchestra of the Santa Cecilia National Academy of Rome, under the baton of conductor Daniel Harding.The evening's program is completed by George Enescu's Fantasy-Pastoral and Johannes Brahms' Symphony No 2 in D major op 73.* On Monday, September 15, Martha Argerich will return to the Enescu Festival, this time at the Romanian Athenaeum, to perform Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major, under the baton of the well-known conductor Charles Dutoit, together with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.The program also includes Ravel's suites Ma Mere l'Oye and Valses nobles et sentimentales M.61, as well as Claude Debussy's symphonic triptych La Mer L. 109.This will be one of the main events through which the Enescu Festival celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great French composer, the organizers say.Tickets for the Enescu Festival performances are on sale on the Eventim platform: https://www.cts.eventim.ro/artist/festivalul-george-enescu and in physical format, in Carrefour hypermarkets, Carturesti and Humanitas bookshop chains.The 27th edition of the International Festival "George Enescu", with the theme "Anniversari/Celebrations", will take place between August 24 and September 21 and will mark the 70th anniversary of the death of the great composer and musician George Enescu. The festival program will feature over 95 concerts by over 4,000 of the world's most renowned artists. A project funded by the Romanian Government through the Ministry of Culture and organized by ARTEXIM, the Enescu Festival is an event held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania.
