The president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, is visiting Romania on March 20-21, where she will meet with a number of government officials and business representatives.According to a press release of the international financial institution, the visit of the EBRD President comes at a time when the institution is preparing new five-year strategies for Romania and Bulgaria, which will go into public consultation at the end of this year.EBRD investments in Bulgaria doubled last year, reaching 272 million euros, while in Romania they increased from 658 million euros to 707 million euros, the financial institution firmly supporting the transition to a green economy in both countries.In Romania, Odile Renaud-Basso will meet with prime minister Marcel Ciolacu, finance minister Tanczos Barna, energy minister Sebastian Burduja, as well as business representatives, diplomats and civil society representatives. Odile Renaud-Basso will be accompanied by the EBRD director for Romania, Victoria Zinchuk."The EBRD is a key partner and a major institutional investor in both Bulgaria and Romania. This visit underlines the EBRD's commitment to supporting economic development," said Odile Renaud-Basso, quoted in the press release.The EBRD is a major institutional investor in Romania, was the organization has invested over 11.6 billion euros in 560 projects. A significant share of its financing supports private sector development, sustainability and innovation.
