Real Estate: Romania’s construction market faces a wave of insolvencies

April 16, 2025

Romania’s construction market is facing big problems: the volume of work fell by almost 6% last year and the number of insolvencies topped 1,500 companies. The current challenges and possible solutions to overcome them were discussed and analyzed during the second edition of FORECAST Brunch, an event recently organized by the platform Vindem-Ieftin.ro, which brought together major players in this sector.   “The chaotic interventions of the authorities are discouraging construction contractors, already tried and tested by the materials crisis, the bottlenecks on the transport routes and the toxic taxes hidden in the Green Deal. It is not normal for the state to delay payments for works, issuing permits or VAT refunds for months while manufacturers and builders pay wages, energy and taxes. We need to change this one-sided relationship through real, transparent and constructive dialog”, said Cosmin Raileanu, founder of Vindem-Ieftin.ro, at the opening of FORECAST Brunch 2025.   The event brought together relevant players from the entire chain, from manufacturers, distributors and integrators, to technical specialists and consultants, who presented and analyzed the real problems in the market, as well as possible solutions to overcome them. Topics discussed included the increasing pressure of European regulations, the need to optimize costs with the help of technology, increasing bureaucracy, the shortage of qualified personnel, the lack of efficient communication between client and provider, etc.   The second FORECAST Brunch was organized on March 27 by Vindem-Ieftin.ro in partnership with Altreal.ro, the only platform that connects PV system suppliers with their beneficiaries and provides them with impartial advice and assessments.   The Vindem-Ieftin.ro. platform is the first construction materials market network in Romania, established in 2014. Within 10 years, the company has accumulated a portfolio of over 300 manufacturers and importers of construction materials and more than 100,000 customers. vindem-ieftin.ro launched in 2022 the innovative concept Depozitul Virtual, the only construction materials franchise in Romania. So far, 48 virtual warehouses have been created.   (Photo:https://www.facebook.com/)
