President Maia Sandu received Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, together with Prince Radu

May 6, 2025

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu expressed her gratitude on Monday for the contribution of the Royal House of Romania to the Republic of Moldova's European future. In a speech at the opening of the Economic Forum "Investment - Development - European Integration" in Chisinau, Maia Sandu said that the Romanian royal family is "an active partner in building new bridges of cooperation between the two banks of the Prut River"."Allow me to express my gratitude to the Romanian royal family, a tireless supporter of our European path and an active partner in building new bridges of cooperation between the two banks of the Prut. Your presence in the public life of the Republic of Moldova is not just a gesture of solidarity. It is a concrete contribution to the European future of our country, anchored in the values that unite us and in the community of language, culture and destiny that we share. Under the auspices of the royal family, the economic forum in Chisinau has become, in just three editions, a living platform for expanding bilateral cooperation. From the ideas born here to projects implemented on the ground, the forum has succeeded in creating networks, generating investments and strengthening the Republic of Moldova's profile as an attractive destination for doing business," said Maia Sandu."Through everything that you do, through your constant presence here, in Chisinau, you support us and we appreciate this very much," said Maia Sandu. In his turn, Prince Radu spoke about the increasing support that the Republic of Moldova enjoys internationally."I have noted with great pride that, as the political, military and economic situation on the continent has become more difficult, people have shown more instinct for goodness. (...) When efforts for NATO and the European Union began, the further west you went, the more interest there was. The further east you went, you were a bit alone. Now I see the opposite, which means that trust in the Republic of Moldova has grown, respect and admiration for the courage of the people here has grown," said Prince Radu. Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, together with Prince Radu, were received on Monday morning by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, on the occasion of the visit that the two are paying to Chisinau.
