Eurowind Energy and Autoliv Sign 12-Year Partnership for Renewable Energy Supply in Romania

May 8, 2025

Eurowind Energy and Autoliv, the global leader in automotive safety systems, have signed a 12-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in Romania.   Through this partnership, Autoliv takes a significant step towards its goal of fully powering its operations with renewable energy. The new Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) directly contributes to the company’s climate targets.   “This project marks a key milestone in our decarbonization process and strengthens Autoliv’s position as a sustainability leader in the automotive industry. With this initiative, we support our ability to deliver sustainable products to our customers and accelerate progress towards achieving our climate goals for European operations,” said Magnus Jarlegren, President of Autoliv Europe.   For Eurowind Energy, the agreement demonstrates that PPA partnerships are not only an effective tool for reducing the carbon footprint but also an essential component of its business strategy, which focuses on developing renewable energy parks across Europe.   “This type of agreement is fundamental for developing new green energy parks. Collaborations with large and ambitious companies like Autoliv directly contribute to expanding the renewable energy network and building a cleaner future for all,” emphasized Jesper Schaumburg-Düring, Chief Commercial Officer of Eurowind Energy.   The agreement covers the supply of green electricity for 12 years from the Pecineaga wind farm in Constan?a County, with an installed capacity of 48 MW. Once completed, the wind farm will generate approximately 176,000 MWh annually—the equivalent electricity consumption of around 48,000 households. The park is expected to become operational in 2027.   Eurowind Energy A/S is a Danish company specializing in the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy parks. Its portfolio includes wind, solar, hydrogen, biogas, power-to-heat solutions, and battery storage projects. Eurowind Energy has been active in the Romanian market since 2011.
