Infrastructure : National Airport Company launches tender for new terminal for the

 The National Company Bucharest Airports (CNAB) has launched a tender for the design of the new terminal of the "Henri Coanda" Airport and the related airport infrastructure, a contract estimated at approximately 40 million euros.According to a CNAB press release, this is the largest and most complex airport infrastructure project in Romania, with the tender to be held to award the design services contract for the making of the studies, concept, technical execution project and technical assistance during the execution of the works for the infrastructure necessary to accommodate the traffic forecasted for the year 2040 - Stage I for the achievement of the investment objective "Strategic Programme for the Development of the Airport Infrastructure at Henri Coanda Airport - Bucharest."The main objective of this project is to build a new passenger terminal with all the necessary facilities, which will cover approximately 176,000 sq m and will accommodate a traffic forecast for the year 2040 of 30 million passengers/year. Basically, passenger traffic at peak times in the new terminal will be able to reach 6,500 passengers/hour."CNAB's vision for the new infrastructure is: an airport that is individualized at an international level; a smart airport using modern technologies such as AI, IoT, BMS, etc.; an efficient airport - optimal flows for passengers, baggage, aircraft, vehicles, equipment; safety and security through using advanced technologies; passenger experience - comfortable spaces, intuitive flows, diverse spaces for food & beverages, shopping, lounges; sustainability and resilience - energy-efficient solutions, the use of green technologies with minimal impact on the environment (for example: rainwater reuse); solutions that lead to the concept of 'healthy building' (passenger flows, air quality, materials used, HVAC solutions, no interior noise, with natural light, digital technology, etc.)," the press release states.The terminal will be modular, which will allow for phased commissioning and will be designed to the highest airport standards for Schengen - Non-Schengen traffic, with generous Arrivals, Departures and passenger transit or transfer areas.CNAB emphasises that the facilities of the new terminal will be comparable to major European airports: a minimum of 48 new aircraft parking stands; a minimum of 20 boarding bridges; generous spaces for passengers, modern baggage belt systems (arrivals and departures), security control equipment, separate supply flows, passenger information systems, ambient lighting, optimal acoustics, efficient air conditioning and intuitive signage, protocol lounges for airline customers, VIP lounges, various commercial areas, all sized to achieve the "IATA Optimum Level of Service."Last but not least, aircraft will have new modern taxiways, on a new airport infrastructure.Other facilities that will be built: control tower, PSI depot, handling areas, administrative buildings, transformer stations, water purification stations, parking lots for passenger vehicles. A complex network of access roads will also be built in the landside and airside areas, in order to ensure road connections, with roads and underground passages, between the current terminal and the future terminal.In addition, the terminal will have modern taxi and public transport stations, as well as special areas for buses, created to avoid traffic congestion. The new airport infrastructure will be connected to the road and rail infrastructure.The estimated value of the design and technical assistance services is approximately 40 million euros.
