All Romania - U.S. agreements, including those regulating the American military presence in Romania, are in force, are respected and permanently adapted to security developments in the regional environment, sources from the defense field stated on Wednesday. In this regard, the strategic facilities hosted in military bases on Romanian territory, such as the American forces stationed in a rotational system in the 57th Air Base at Mihail Kogalniceanu or the Aegis Ashore anti-missile system installed in the 99th Deveselu Base, which is integrated into the NATO anti-missile system, "represent clear evidence of the common Romanian-American commitment to allied collective security", the said sources indicate. In this context, the cited sources emphasize that the modernization and expansion of the 57th Air Base at Mihail Kogalniceanu, with an investment by the Romanian Government of over 2.5 billion euros, will transform this location into a "regional strategic hub for NATO", capable of hosting up to 10,000 Romanian and allied military personnel.Romania's investment is structured over 20 years, with implementation in four stages. The presence of American forces on Romanian territory, supported by significant investments in defense infrastructure, strengthens regional security and deters external threats. At this moment, a total of over 1,700 U.S. military personnel are deployed in Romania, mainly at Mihail Kogalniceanu, Deveselu and Campia Turzii.
