Piotr Serafin, European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, starts today a visit to Romania

The European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, Piotr Serafin, will travel to Bucharest and Oradea, between April 24-25, announces the European Commission Representation.The high-ranking official's visit will focus on improving social inclusion, creating jobs and strengthening local communities with the help of EU funds.The visit will include dialogues with Romanian authorities and stakeholders to better support Romania's economic growth and align the country's priorities with plans for the future EU budget.This visit is part of the pan-European consultations carried out by the European Commission ahead of the presentation of the next long-term EU budget, planned for July this year.According to the agenda announced by the European Commission Representation, on 24 April, Commissioner Serafin will begin his visit to Bucharest, where he will meet with the interim President of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, and other ministers responsible for EU funds. They will discuss how the funds provided by the European Union contribute to Romania's development and will analyse Romania's priorities for the future EU budget.He will also meet with Romania's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs, Catalin Predoiu, to discuss security, border protection and migration management, with a focus on Romania's essential role in protecting the EU's external borders.Commissioner Serafin will also discuss with Romanian business people and investor groups to get their views on how current EU funding works. This dialogue aims to refine future funding instruments to better support Romania's economy and industry.On April 25, Commissioner Serafin will travel to Oradea, where he will visit important infrastructure projects, such as the County Hospital and Oradea Airport, which illustrate how European funds positively influence regional development.The Commissioner's visit will conclude with a tour of the historic Citadel of Oradea and the mobility corridor. Benefiting from significant EU investment, this site illustrates the Union's commitment to preserving cultural landmarks and boosting regional tourism.Commissioner Serafin's visit highlights the European Union's continued commitment to promoting economic growth, social unity and community strengthening in Romania.At the end of the visit to the Oradea Citadel, a press conference will be organized inside the Citadel.
