Presidentials 2025/ AEP presents situation of valid electors number for second round of elections

The Permanent Election Authority (AEP) announced on Tuesday the situation of the valid number of electors for the second round of presidential elections. According to the AEP press release, the total number of electors included on the permanent lists is 17,988,218 citizens. The total number of Romanian citizens living abroad, with voting right in those elections is 1,016,327 persons.   6,085 citizens chose to vote on the website www.votstrainatate.ro and were included on permanent election lists abroad, while 2,235 citizens chose to vote at polling stations abroad. At the same time, 20,326 citizens are not allowed to vote.   AEP points out that the Elction Register was updated by data imported from the General Department for People's Evidence and from the General Passport Department, as well as by cancellations of registration at mayoralties.   According to law 208/2015, with further amendments, the Election Register is a national registration and updating data system identifying Romanian citizens with voting right and data about their distribution to polling stations.The election register is organized for counties, municipalities, towns, communes, for Romanian citizens living in Romania. People authorized to perform operations in the Election Register, including Romanian citizens living in the country are mayors or people appointed by mayors, by decision, according to the law.
