PresidentialElections2025/BEC publishes results report on website: Nicusor Dan won elections, fulfilled legal conditions

The Central Electoral Bureau published on its website on Tuesday the minutes regarding the results of the second round of the presidential elections, according to which Nicusor Dan won the elections.The minutes show that George Simion (AUR) obtained 5,339,053 votes in the elections of May 18, and Nicusor Dan (independent) - 6,168,642 votes."The first and last name of the candidate who met the conditions of art. 81 of the Constitution of Romania, republished: Nicusor-Daniel Dan," the document states.The BEC is to submit the minutes to the Constitutional Court of Romania, together with the minutes of ascertainment and centralization of the voting results drawn up by the county electoral bureaus, the electoral bureaus of the sectors of Bucharest municipality, the electoral bureau for polling stations abroad and the electoral bureaus of the polling stations.After receiving the file from the Central Electoral Bureau and resolving the requests for annulment of the elections, the CCR will validate the election and publish its results in the Official Gazette.According to the Joint Regulation of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, within 24 hours of the validation of the results of the elections for the office of President of Romania by the Constitutional Court, the presidents of the two Chambers of Parliament convene the deputies and senators in a joint session, for the oath-taking by the candidate whose election has been validated.The joint sitting is chaired by the presidents of the Chambers of Parliament. One of them, after announcing the purpose of the sitting, gives the floor to the president of the Constitutional Court or his representative, if the president cannot be present, to present the report on the validation of the election result for the office of President of Romania and invites the candidate whose election has been validated to take the oath, the Joint Regulations also state.According to art. 82 of the Constitution, the candidate whose election has been validated takes, before the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, in a joint session, the following oath: "I swear to devote all my power and skill to the spiritual and material prosperity of the Romanian people, to respect the Constitution and the laws of the country, to defend democracy, the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Romania. So help me God!".The taking of the oath is recorded in a declaration by Parliament, through which it takes note of the beginning of the exercise of the mandate of the President of Romania.
