The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR)'s decision to validate the election of Romania's president was published on Thursday in the Official Gazette.The CCR's decision on the results of the second round of the presidential election was likewise published.The Constitutional Court of Romania on Thursday validated the results of the presidential elections."In the fulfilment of the duties incumbent upon it in accordance with the provisions of Article 82, paragraph 1 and Article 146, letter f) of the Constitution, as well as with the provisions of Article 53 of Law no. 370/2004 for the election of the President of Romania, the Constitutional Court met in its plenary session in order to validate the election of the President of Romania. Having examined the file for candidacy and taking into account the minutes drawn up by the Central Electoral Bureau, taking into account the fact that in the second round of the elections, which took place on May 18, 2025, Mr Nicusor Daniel Dan obtained the highest number of valid votes cast, we find that the provisions of Article 81 of the Constitution of Romania and of Law no. 370/2004 have been observed, and on the basis of the constitutional provisions and applicable legislation, by unanimous vote, CCR, in the name of the law, decides: It validates the election of Mr Nicusor Daniel Dan as President of Romania. This decision is final and generally binding and shall be published in the Official Gazette of Romania," announced the CCR president, Marian Enache.The CCR president handed a copy of the CCR Decision to Nicuor Dan, whom he congratulated.***According to the joint Rules of Procedure of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, within 24 hours of the validation of the results of the elections for the office of President of Romania by the Constitutional Court, the Presidents of the two Chambers of Parliament convene the deputies and senators in a joint session, for the submission of oath by the candidate whose election has been validated.According to Article 82 of the Constitution, the candidate whose election has been validated shall take the following oath before the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate in a joint sitting: "I swear to devote all my power and ability to the spiritual and material advancement of the Romanian people, to respect the Constitution and the laws of the country, to defend democracy, the fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens, the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Romania. So help me God!".The taking of the oath is recorded in a declaration of Parliament, which takes note of the beginning of the President of Romania's term of office.
