Healthcare: Deputies Chamber/Free of charge anti-HPV vaccination expanded to girls and boys up to 26 of age

  The Chamber of Deputies adopted in plenum a draft law by which free of charge anti-HPV vaccination will be ensured for girls and boys aged between 11 and 26 years old.The draft law aims to regulate the expansion of access to anti-HPV vaccination for all age groups recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Vaccinology Centre, thus contributing to the significant reduction of the incidence of cervical cancer and other HPV-associated diseases, as well as increasing vaccination coverage by fully compensating for the vaccine for adolescents and young people."Screening and vaccination against HPV infection, in order to reduce the incidence of cervical cancer and other diseases associated with this virus, is provided free of charge for girls and boys aged between 11 and 26, within the National Vaccination Programme," the draft states.Currently, the HPV vaccine is free of charge in Romania for girls and boys aged between 11 and 18.The legislative initiative was also adopted by the Senate, and the Chamber of Deputies is the decision-making body in this case.
