Budget deficit of 2.95 pct of GDP after first four months of 2025

The budget deficit stood at 2.95% of GDP after the first four months of 2025, compared with 3.25% of GDP in the same period last year, according to data released Tuesday by the Ministry of Finance."The execution of the consolidated general budget in the first four months of 2025 ended with a deficit of RON 55.97 billion, or 2.95% of GDP compared to the deficit of RON 57.29 billion, or 3.25% of GDP for the first four months of 2024," the document published by the Ministry of Finance said.After the first three months of 2025, the budget deficit amounted to 2.28% of GDP, or RON 43.66 billion.According to the ministry, total revenues amounted to RON 199.92 billion in the first four months of 2025, registering an increase of 9.4% (y/y), while expenditures, amounting to RON 255.89 billion, increased in nominal terms by 3.7%, compared to the same period of the previous year.The budget for the current year is based on economic growth of 2.5% and a budget deficit of 7% of GDP.
